Here at Hero On My Arm, we've been transforming military uniforms into handbags and purses for over 7 years, creating over 10,000 bags to date! We're all military spouses or veterans here, and we have the most options you'll find anywhere to design a truly custom keepsake. So how does this all work???

Pretty simple really...

We take your uniforms, mostly military, but we can do anything (police, firefighter, state trooper, factory worker, school sweatshirt) and we re-purpose it into a handbag, diaper bag, laptop bag, backpack, etc.

You order the style bag that you want from our Hero On My Arm Collections- purses, diaper bags and backpacks. And if you don't see a style you like, you can even design your own bag here!

From the drop down and fill in the blank menus, you customize and personalize your bag.

Select the uniform that you'd like to have used to make your bag. You have two options:
-send in your own uniform (and you can send in ANY type of uniform!) or
-purchase one from us. These are the uniforms we have in stock. Retired uniforms mean they have been used, but are still in good condition.
All the velcro from an ACU top is used in making the purses, you don't have to order/pay for velcro or request that it be included for ACUs.

Select the Size of the bag. Not all bags have this option, but several of our styles are available in multiple sizes. We recommend getting out a ruler and measuring some of your own handbags if you are unsure about the sizes, so you get a bag that's the perfect fit for you.

Select the Lining for the bag. This is the inside. Again, you have several options:
-you can send in another uniform for the lining
- you can send in your fabric (usually just 1 yard is needed)
-you can choose one of the fabrics we have in stock. You can choose ANY solid color, or from 50 different prints.
The pockets for the inside of your bag come from your uniform. Depending on the style of uniform, each bag will have 2-3 interior pockets.

Select how you would like your bag to close. It can be:
-no closure, left open
-metal snap
-ribbon ties
-velcro tab
-zipper

Choose if you want the collar from your uniform put on the purse, or left off.

Choose if you want protective metal feet on the bottom of your bag.

Choose if you'd like a small bow, a large bow, or no bow at all.

Choose what type of straps that you would like on your bag:
- two straps
- one, adjustable strap
-one adjustable belt strap
-2 belt straps
-bamboo hanldes
Then choose if you would like fabric inside your strap(s) or on the outside of your strap(s).

If your uniform has pockets on the shoulders, and the bag you select has sides, these sleeve/shoulder pockets will be placed on the sides of your bag. If your uniform has pockets on the shoulders but you select a bag without sides, you can choose to put these pockets on the back of your purse instead.

Then you select any additional features you'd like for your bag:
-Add a keepsake pocket (you can put a picture in here, or other sentimental items, like dog tags) here
-Have a name or phrase embroidered on your ribbon here
-Add a fabric border/trim around your name tapes here
-Order a handbag bling for your strap here
-Have a name or phrase embroidered on your strap(s) here
-Have a name or date embroidered on your ACU zipper pull here
-Order a purse candy to sweeten up your bag here
We even offer to return the scraps from your uniform, if you'd like them back.
And if you happen to have a uniform where the pockets have been sewn shut (usually because a patch was sewn on top of the pocket), we can even re-sew those, so you can use the pockets again!

Then if you need any nametapes of patches, you can add those here.

Then you add your must have accessories!

checkbooks and debit card/ID card holders
a wristlet
and a small and large wallet

Lastly, don't forget to look at our other items as well, like

It usually takes about 4 weeks for an order from the time we get your uniform until we ship your order, however you should allow up to 6-8 weeks.
